twenty nine

She barely eats
and barely sleeps,
with tired eyes and coffee lips is how she moves about the Earth.

Born and raised down an old gravel road in Pikeville, North Carolina, she grew up barefoot and curious. Spending her days lost amongst the hills, the lines in her hands and the alternate realities she created.

Rae strives to create worlds within her work; whether those worlds are places she longs to be apart of or places she feels trapped within, they are worlds of her own, located in the sliver of space between consciousness and limbo; where secrets frolic about freely, where passions and feelings are as raw as emeralds, where the impossible becomes reality. She invites her audience to jump into her images and be consumed by their detail and dark charm while encouraging her viewer to create their own journey through each frame.

Rae obtained a BFA from the Art-Institute of Raleigh-Durham. Her work has been recognized in several quarterly exhibitions at the Art-Institute, the Durham Public Library, the art Center of Carrboro, RAW, The Initiative Arts Collective and Paprika Southern Magazine.
